What is Invisalign?

Invisalign® is designed to be invisible. Invisalign® uses a series of virtually invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners for your orthodontic treatment. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Your orthodontist uses X-rays, pictures, and impressions to create precise 3-D images of your teeth and to configure your aligner trays accordingly.

Why would I want Invisalign?

If you are an adult, or have a teen who tends to be self-conscious, Invisalign® may appeal to you. The fact that the aligners are removable so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss more naturally may be desirable. Invisalign® treatment also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you begin treatment so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

How does Invisalign work?

The Invisalign® teeth straightening system works through the use of plastic aligner trays that gradually move the patient’s teeth over time. After completing an initial consultation with the patient and an assessment of the patient’s orthodontic needs, the orthodontist creates a personalized treatment plan, which consists of a series of customized trays the patient changes every two weeks over the course of treatment. Unlike traditional braces, the Invisalign® system does not require wires or metal, so the trays can be more comfortable to wear.
